About This Temple :
This is a small ancient sivan temple in 11-aalathur, kudavasal thaluk,Thiruvarur district,Tamilnadu,India.Now we are involved in renovating this temple.People who interested in helping us, providing fund to build this temple.Still now(may'14) temple work is under construction.This temple's kumbabishegam planned to be held on 2nd july.People who were interested to help us contact us.
History of this temple:
Once upon a time ,90 crores of celestials had suffered from the act of non-celestials[asurars].so,they gathered together and metamorphosed as emmets as to evade from the sight of non-celestials[asurars] and worshipped Lord shiva at many places to protect them from the the non-celestials[asurars].
All the celestials got the dharshan of Lord shiva.They got enlightment and ruled by the lord when they came to worship the Shiva of this place which was enclaved with full of banian trees called as Vada Aaranyam [Northern forest].Hence, thereafter the Lord shiva of this place is called after “pipeelekatheeshwarar” .[pipeeli-Ant]
This Lord shiva has helped even ants which has one sense only.Ants have knowledge of saving foods for their future.If it is so,he will definitely give us also a better thinking if we adore him by lighting five ghee lamps for five Mondays continuously and performing ‘Rudhrathrisathi’ archanas and showering on him by vilva leaf. By doing so,he will lead us to attain a better position in our life .
Whoever wants to begin a business /trade may perform the above mentioned ‘Rudrathrisathi’ archanas to get progress in his occupation. He may avade all troubles/obstacles in the business and get a better permanent position if he is in a tentative job .
Lord shiva blesses all the living beings. We also worship his peerless holy feet and pray for a prosperous life.

The lord Siva,the omnipotent,all pervasive,Triple eyed,God of Trinity,who evolves,sustains,and Resolves is one as well as Many,Abound,Beyond the Beyond,Beyond from cast,Clan,Region and Religion and who snaps the delusive births,has appeared in his sivalinga figure in many places in different shrines to grace his devotees.Amongst is the shrine at this Aalathur village where he graced please his devotees.
This small village is gloriously situated at south of the holy river “Cauvery” and in between the famous temples of Sri lalithambigai at Tirumeeyachur and Temple for Ragu and Kethu at Tirupampuram and is girt with four Temples,four Tanks and four streets.The tribute of the river Cauvery,”Noolar” is running south of this temple.The Lord of this place named after Sri “Pipeelikadhishwarar” and Goddess ”Sri Soundaryanayagi Ambal”.
He showers his blessings right from Brahmines,celestials and man down to emmets.This temple is renovated by the King Kulothungan III in the year 1217.
By Lord’s Grace, and help from Government of Tamil Nadu Government (Hindu aranilaya thurai) and some local people now the temple reconstructed with compound wall,swamy vimanam, ambal vimanam . But for building Raja Gopuram,and for painting,decorations,kumbabishekam there is no fund for us.The shrine are now displaced and the reconstruction work of the temple is started by villagers on 17-06-10 expecting the help from devotees,voluteers.
It is appealed to all Saivities to participate in this rare oppurtunity of reconstructing and renovating of the very old Siva Temple.
